  1. Hi Cristina. What a wonderful idea for a blog. I wish there had been this kind of thing when I was growing up in the 1970′s. Mom and I were always going on diets and exercising together (!). Looking back on old photos, I realize I never had a weight problem, but my mom’s obsession with her own weight, trickled down to me. I always hated my body and developed an eating disorder in my teens. Luckily, I got therapy and was able to stop those behaviors, but body imagine remained an issue for many years. It wasn’t until I left home for college and came into my own view of myself, that I was able to leave food issues behind. I am a petite woman of 46, probably even a little underweight now, but I don’t obsess like I used to. I just wanted to say that this is a great resource for young girls and women who struggle, and in fact, for ALL women, to learn to appreciate ourselves for who we really are. Thank you!

    • Thank you so much! I just started it a couple of months ago, and I’m really enjoying bloging about a subject that’s so important to me. I’m trying really hard to get women to read it and hope they get something out of it. I’m not entirely past my food/body issues but I’m getting there. I appreciate the support and am going to check out your site right now!

  2. I am writing both because I love your blog and because i would love some hints. I would like to contact and put pressure on the teen/tween clothing company Alloy, as they charge more for their jeans and pants in sizes 15-25. I am wondering if you have any tips as to what one could/should put in a letter to the company as well as an on-line petition.

  3. Hello Cristina. I’d like to say how happy I am to see a show embracing Plus-sized women and their beauty. Seeing as I am young (15) and plus-size myself, I feel more more confident in myself after I’ve watched the show. I don’t have many problems with my weight, as long as it doesn’t become an issue to my health I’m happy be be my size. It’s hard for me to deal with my size sometimes when I look at the nice fashions I see today, but I find my ways to get the out come I’d like to see. Instead of using the terms “Plus-Sized, Chubby, Fat, Plump” I prefer to use my own term. Plushy. It suits me and It sounds nice. I hope to be able to see more of you all in the future. Thank you for making this girl smile more about herself.

  4. Christina,

Your blog is very inspiring! My name is Fabianna Pergolizzi and I am currently the President and Founder of Project Anti Bully, which is an organization that raises awareness of the prevalence of bullying globally. I wanted to see if I could use your blog on our site?

I created PAB because I have personally experienced bullying throughout my entire life…which really took a major affect on my body image. It’s encouraging to see you stand up for who you are and encourage others to do the same.

  5. It was so nice meeting you at #blogher12. I remember we talked about how body image affects me in my career. Sorry it took for long for me to follow up. I wanted to check out your blog because body image is what most of us deal with on a day to day basis (men and women, kids too). I couldn’t imagine not looking in the mirror everyday. That’s an interesting experiment.
